If you told me 8 years ago, when this photo was taken at my UQ graduation, that I would eventually drop out of a PhD program during Covid lockdowns, I would not have believed it.
I certainly wouldn’t have entirely believed I’d be pursuing the projects I do now; the ones at Found Loop and Awethentic Design that help me live on purpose and benefit communities and the planet.
It’s because a change to one’s identity feels close to impossible in the moment.
We can’t always foresee the steps we’d need to take or the people we’ll meet on our new adventures. When we are in the middle of the shift, we often only see what we are leaving behind.
The good news is that it’s all possible.
I used to teach a course on service management at The University of Queensland, but I didn’t realise how much I’d eventually need to lean on my own advice: “Hold the vision, trust the process”.
If you are in a difficult moment right now, keep going. The process is working, even when you can’t see the destination yet.
