Saving your most precious assets: Time, attention and energy

Time is one of your most precious assets. It’s limited. It can be wasted easily. It can’t be gained once lost. There are too many people and algorithms fighting for your attention, your time, your energy, and sanity.

Many books have been written about time management, not as many about managing our attention and energy.

I set myself an anti-enshittification experiment early this year to create the time and energy to focus on what I want to bring to the world. Frankly, it has been hard to focus, even on my experiment, amidst the constant noise and distractions of the world.

Gaining forward momentum in the direction of the change we seek is a beautiful feeling, and I’m determined to access that feeling. So here is what I am committing to doing more in the coming days: less television, more music; less doom scrolling, more creating; less sitting, more movement; less consumption, more human connection.

What are you doing to focus that is helping? I’ll love your input and test a few ideas that have worked for you. Perhaps they could work for me and others too.
